As a Consultant I help our clients to understand and improve their relationship with nature. I lead on technical aspects of projects, such as carrying out Systematic Conservation Planning analysis, and then clearly and concisely present the results back to the client.

I worked closely with the Sussex Local Nature Partnership and councils to create a first iteration of a woodland opportunity map for Sussex and the South Downs National Park that can be used to indicate where woodland creation may be most suitable. It brings together many national environmental datasets, identifies constraint areas, and also weights layers them based on the potential positive or negative effects woodland establishment may have.

Whilst at Archipelagos IMC I initiated and lead the setup of a new project monitoring the common chameleon populations; this involved using distance sampling to carry out surveys of the local area each night by using the line transect method. In addition to this, I also was involved with a number of other projects, including monk seal survey, jackal diet ecology, jackal bioacoustic surveys, and eco-navigation surveys.I also had the responsibility of giving new interns inductions and showing them around the research base, explaining how the organisation was run.

Shades of Hope (SOH) is a registered charity with the mission of nurturing, treating and rehabilitating injured and orphaned native wildlife with the goal of releasing healthy animals back into their natural habitats.SOH was a fast paced and intense environment to work in, caring for sick, injured and orphaned animals. My primary responsibility was infant care but the work also included diagnostics fluid therapy, administrating medications, maintaining animals nutrition, wound management, physiotherapy, enrichment, husbandry and record keeping. I showed myself to be a willing and committed employee, with the working weeks often being roughly 60 hours. I had the opportunity to work in an exciting, very hands on environment, experiencing the pain of loss and the pleasure of successful wildlife releases.
