As a Trainee Business Travel Consultant, I had a steep learning curve in a fast-paced office environment which had me organising and arranging travel requirements for the company's clients. I booked train and ferry tickets, planned air travel and arranged the necessary documentation for the journey, organised car hire for arrival at the destination and of course, contacted and organised accommodation for each client. I occasionally worked on the logistics of corporate event organisation; sourcing suitable locations and arranging the necessary requirements as per the brief. We also had an important role in terms of crisis management or in the event of delays and cancellations to ensure our clients were not left stranded and were provided with suitable alternatives or change of plans, if they were required.

I took the role of Airport Ambassador to compliment my HND studies in Travel and Tourism. My time at the airport was invaluable as practical experience for supporting my growth in the travel and tourism industry. I primarily worked with the summer charter flights with queue organisation, preparation of passengers for security and to help at the arrival and departure gates alongside the safety officers on site. I was also trained in basic first aid and was a source of information for passengers while they were in the airport. During my time here, I worked two very busy summer seasons and the extremely popular SPE Offshore Europe Oil and Gas conference, hosted by Aberdeen.
