Sometimes I work with Business Executives and help them have a better understanding of their IT investments. Other times I work with IT managers and team leaders on strengthening business management skills. Either way, the importance of blending IT operations and business objectives defines success and profitability of each of my clients. Additionally, I am responsible for internal operations, project management and service delivery. And oh, ya, the best part of my job? As Technology Service Director, my roles and responsibilities were broken down into two major disciplines: Internal Service Operations and Business Development and Customer Programs and Service.Internal Service Operations and Business Development. This responsibility required both imagination and leadership to develop the future direction of the organization. It was about understanding the technology trends of today and applying them to internal operations to increase productivity while maintaining relevance with the customers. As a member of the Leadership Team, I was given the opportunity to work directly with the Sales, Marketing and Administrative Services departments and apply the technology services for each of their specific requirements.Customer Programs and Service. This responsibility included direct oversight of cloud services, managed services for client networks, print/copy services and support and project management team for product implementations. It was also my responsibility to ensure a quality customer experience through the help desk team.

As Operations Manager for the data center, my primary responsibility was to maintain business continuity for our customers ensuring System availability and Application delivery with little to no downtime. Daily operations and responsibilities included the following: • System Infrastructure and Application Delivery: configuration, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of fully redundant servers, switches and application services. • Facility Management: backup power, generators, redundant data communications climate control and fire suppression. • Security Controls: physical access controls and monitoring, vulnerability and penetration testing of systems and network infrastructure.Operating a cloud services data center was a most challenging adventure, requiring not only a wide range of skill and expertise in enterprise systems and facility management, but in organizational and leadership.

As a consulting Network Systems Administrator, it was my primary responsibility to work with Small to Medium Enterprises in designing, organizing, implementing, supporting and operating their network infrastructure. This included local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless, servers, data storage, data backup, desktops, mobile devices and telecommunications.It was during my tenure as a consulting Systems Administrator that I developed an understanding and future appetite for the significance of a well-designed and functioning technology solution within an organization. If any part of the system became unavailable, their operations were significantly impaired or stopped completely.

My daily responsibilities included responding to service requests for repairs and upgrades within existing commercial office buildings and resident halls. My experience also included assignments in new construction projects and remodeling of existing facilities.My experiences at Moody Bible Institute not only provided opportunities for me to strengthen my troubleshooting and time management skills, it provided exposure to the importance of a service management methodology and customer service. These experiences provides me with the foundational knowledge for designing, implementing and operating a cloud service data center and call center.
