I lead the Eversheds Sutherland UK energy sector commercial and regulatory disputes team. I am also a lead partner in our International Arbitration Group and act as both counsel and advocate. I handle a broad spectrum of litigation, arbitration and regulatory matters, helping clients to manage complex disputes and control commercial risks. My client relationships include major energy and industrial sector clients. I also act for state entities and national oil companies in cross-border matters.Representative experience:• representing the world’s largest independent power producer in high-value warranty claim proceedings against the former owners of Europe’s biggest gas-fired power station• representing (as counsel and advocate) a Middle Eastern state in a multi-billion dollar state-to-state ad hoc arbitration• representing (as counsel and advocate) a Middle Eastern national oil company in a multi-billion dollar oil and gas arbitration• advising an oil super-major in defending multi-jurisdiction group action proceedings arising from oil spills in North Africa• acting for an investment bank in multi-billion dollar international BIT arbitration proceedings• representing a consortium of international energy companies in arbitral proceedings concerning claims for defective workmanship at a facility in the Caspian region• acting for energy clients, including ‘Big 6’ and independents, in various major Ofgem regulatory investigationsMy wider experience encompasses business-critical contractual disputes and crisis management, post-M&A litigation, environmental litigation, price revision disputes, judicial reviews and tax-related disputes.
