As a PASS leader my role is to facilitate study sessions with student so as to develop a deeper understanding of the course material. Weekly sessions are developed with other PASS leaders, so as to present the preious week material in a context that is engaging, fun and informative. A one hour presentation is developed in conjunction with a wekly homework sheet. Weekly reporitng of hours, attendance and session plans is also required. Additionally, as a team we prepare and hold mid-trimester and final exam busters which are held in exam like conditions. I have been PASS leader for introduction to psychology and introduction to research methods and statistics.

Gateway Project - Western Australia

The project included 5 grade separated interchanges together with new and upgraded signalised interchanges. I joined the project from pre-startup and as such was involved with the establishment of the traffic team and resources.As traffic engineer I was responsible for the planning and delivery of Traffic Management Plans by the design team used by the construction teams. Further to this I was responsible for planning and managing the implementation team to ensure that adequate resources and timing was available for works to be completed. All of these had to be delivered ensuring correct sign off by all stakeholders and team members.As part of the traffic team I became involved with the Main Roads’ Innovations Team where new traffic devices and methods were tabled and put forward for use on Western Australian job sites. I personally put forward designs and concepts for the use of temporary variable speed signs for use across work sites which removed workers from the road and increased set-up/pull down times for traffic zones.

Gorgon Jetty Project - Caisson Yard, Western Australia

Project EngineerGorgon Jetty - Caisson FabricationJan ‘12 – PresentProject Value $289M, Section value $31MDuties & Responsibilities:- Managing supply and minor works contracts for all reinforcement works- Ensuring quality documentation for reinforcing works is kept up to date- Monthly Forecasting and cost reporting- Weekly primavera programme reports to caisson team, showing slippage and critical path, weekly subcontractor programme updates- Ensuring adequate materials and resources were available to ensure a prompt delivery of the projectResponsible engineer for the reinforcement works to the Gorgon Jetty Caisson Construction. My main remit was the management of the subcontractors and suppliers for the reinforcement package. This was the delivery of over 14,000tonne of tied reinforcement which included heavy pre-fabricated cages and base beams to minimise tying time on site. I additionally did weekly programming to ensure the caisson team were well aware of the critical path and that resources were correctly allocated.Additional to the reinforcement works I assisted the site team in a variety of works; I designed a lifting bracket that could be fixed to scissor lifts that enabled the safe lifting of multiple radius bars to more efficiently tie wall reo. I also held weekly programming training session for Site & Graduate engineers. Designed car park and pile lay down areas to receive over 1200t of steel piles.

M2 Upgrade Project - New South Wales

Project Value $550M, Sections value $10.5MDuties & Responsibilities:-Monthly Forecasting and cost reporting-Issuing and letting sub-contracts for bridge works-Ordering of all materials for bridge works, inclusive of drainage, road furniture-Management of all heavy lifts & road closures for bridge works-Managing sub-contractors payments and on site activities-Weekly programming meetings and reports to programme team-Managing and Maintaining Quality documentation-Managing Site and Graduate engineersInitially I was responsible for the project set up which included; setting up the main office, main site compound/logistic centre and several satellite compounds. The pre-start phase involved liaising and approvals with various councils and government bodies, assisting environment and Community teams to ensure a timely delivery of start up once project approval was received. Additional to this I managed contracts for residential and commercial building dilapidation reports, road condition survey & building hire contracts.After the set up phase was complete my responsibilities moved to the widening of a 160m – 5 span viaduct, widening of a existing main road overpass and construction of 1km of raft slabs to accommodate the new on off ramps. AlThe viaduct widening was constructed over an existing forested gorge and creek, access and environment posed the biggest challenges, the piers were built using a peri climbing scaffold system, bridge deck was of the Super-T design with drainage installed pre lifting to minimise working at heights.The main road overpass widening was consisted of 20 Super-T’s installed to newly constructed abutment and pier, all works work conducted with minimal impact to existing traffic flows. To stitch the existing and new bridges together a high early strength concrete was used.Raft slab works entailed to piling of appx. 180 bored cast in place piles through previously placed fill and construction of raft slab.

Southern Sydney Freight Line - New South Wales

Section Value - $38MDuties & Responsibilities:- Management of sub-contractors and material supply, inclusive of monthly payment approvals, sourcing new suppliers, letting advise to Project manager- Monthly quantity measurement for payment claims- Ensuring all design issues are resolved prior to works commencing- Organising of weekly sub-contractor and Quality meetings- Producing a weekly 4 week programme for site meetings- Developing work methods to safely work around services- Management of possession weekends for critical milestones, inclusive of sub-contractor sourcing, payments and material supply- Preparing monthly cost reports for project mangerConstruction of Sefton dive underpass for the Southern Sydney freight line. The section of the works I was involved was the construction of a 3km dive beneath the Bankstown rail line for the new Southern Sydney Freight line. The works consist of a pre-cast under bridge at the Bankstown line, a top down cast in place extension of existing road, pile walls, shotcreting and major earthworks. A major part of the job has been to successfully plan around existing services and live train lines. I organised two of the major possession milestones. The placing and stitching of headstocks underneath the Bankstown line and placing of pre-cast bridge planks, both these involved careful planning for cranes and sequencing.

2010 World Cup Stadium – Durban, South Africa

Project Value - R2.1B, Section Value R70M Duties & Responsibilities:Management, programming and sequencing of construction and installation of over appx. 2000 larger pre-cast seating and stair elements (up to 13t) and approx 2000 smaller pre-cast elements (average - 300kgs). Implementation and continual improvement of safety standards for the Pre-Cast yard- Managing of mould design and factory setup, sourcing and conceptualising of specialised material, plant and rigging method for pre-cast items- Managing workforce of 10 staff and over 130 labour workforce- Management of concreting, reinforcement, joint sealing, mould suppliers and rigging contractors, in addition to this ordering and managing up to 4 heavy lift cranes, approval of monthly sub-contractor payments- Weekly program reporting to project directors, - Holding weekly team meeting, with staff and sub-contractors- Attending weekly meetings to overcome design issues- Liaising with Quantity surveyors to ensure timely output of forecasts and monthly cost reportsThe role was management of the Pre-Cast section for the construction of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Stadium in Durban. The New Durban Stadium is one of the iconic stadiums of the 2010 soccer world cup built to an award winning standard under a strict timeframe. The stadium is a 75,000 seated stadium with the ability to host a possible future Olympics.

N3 Western Freeway Upgrade – Durban, South Africa

Project Value - R100M Duties & Responsibilities:- Management of site, over 200 labour workforce, 4 major sub-contractors and a site staff of 12- Monthly cost reporting and forecasting for both client and board of directors- Sourcing, appointing and managing of selected sub-contractors- Bi-weekly programming updates and reporting- Continuous improvements to work methods to improve safety standards on main arterial motorway- Concept and management of temporary design for unique barrier design and bridge works.Construction of main city bound freeway upgrade, one extra outbound and inbound lane. My main role as Site Agent was the running of the site, management of all structural concrete elements and construction of a new reinforced earth off ramp. The main structures were the widening of 2 existing over bridges both cast in-situ decks, stitching of two existing bridges together and over 4km of crash barriers and construction of appx 2km of noise walls. Throughout construction full operation of the Freeway had to be maintained through careful traffic control planning. I brought to this project a shift in safety thinking when working with live and ensured that people/traffic were separated at all time in country where safety at the time was in its infancy.

I worked as the Civil Section Engineer completing the superstructure before moving overseas. The building was constructed using the Outinoord tunnel form system under harsh wind and weather conditions.

Building was a 500m by 50m long post tensioned building with pre-cast columns, lift pits, and slab edges.
