The AMR Research Manager position was responsible for leading a team of 12 researchers in the New York and Los Angeles offices. The researchers were broken into teams specializing in various areas of the business: Commercial handling advertising agencies, design firms and corporate clients; Books covering the book publishers and Media who were responsible for magazines, editorial television, newspapers and editorial internet clients.Department Manager: Helped staff with troubleshooting and strategizing. Educated staff on new requirements and procedures. Conducted interviews and hired new staff. Maintained schedules. Conducted annual goal-setting meetings and semi-annual reviews of researchers. Determined annual salary increases for department.Business Development: Worked with account executives and sales management to create and fulfill proactive research strategies for clients. Facilitated researcher presence at meetings to educate clients on using CorbisImages.com and CorbisMotion.com. Participated in meetings with editors to determine content gaps in Corbis’s commercial imagery. Worked with developers and software engineers in designing and testing modifications and new functionality for CorbisImages.com.

As Media Research Manager I supervised a team of 6 researchers in the New York office. Our client base was drawn from all areas of the Editorial side - books, magazines, broadcast, internet and documentaries. As manager I was responsible for hiring, scheduling, conducting annual reviews and awarding raises. I also had to ensure that the department was working smoothly with other departments such as sales and editing to ensure the best possible customer experience.

As a researcher at Bettmann it was the old school type of research - going through file cabinets to pull selections of prints and slides for clients. We also had to look up subjects and personalities in card catalogs and then pull negatives to get them printed for the client. Our client base was predominantly editorial with some commercial clients as the largest part of the collection was from the UPI photo library. Bettmann was purchased by Corbis in 1995.
