Responsible for the Engineering Function across the Subsea7 Group

As Operational Functions Director my role takes functional responsibility for the various disciplines we deploy in the safe execution of our projects, these including Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, HSE, Quality, Document Control and Planning. Managing and develop our functional competencies, ensures effective delivery and consistency in ways of working across Seaway7.

As the Engineering Director, I was accountable for the performance of the Engineering function. This involved the hands-on general management of all the Engineering teams within the Regions, including resourcing and responsibility for the overall performance of engineering activities undertaken in support of Company’s tenders and projects including early engagement phases. A Safety leader, and show commitment for all engineers to be and act as Safety leaders. Accountable for all engineering undertaken within the Region, ensuring that it is professionally executed in an efficient way, to the required quality (fit for purpose) and making adequate use of knowledge management practices with a clear focus on the commerciality of all engineering solutions.

Responsible for establishing and implementing Field Development Groups to all Subsea 7 Regions. Focus was on developing front end engineering solution for SURF packages to our clients. Worked closely with OneSubsea to offer fully integrated SPS & SURF solutions to our clients through the Subsea Integration Alliance.

As a Senior Engineering Manager my responsibilities were managing a major segment of the Engineering Function (Project Installation Engineering, Tender Engineering and Subsea 7’s Field Developments Group) by directing, developing, communicating, and implementing the company's direction and strategic goals. Responsible for overseeing the Disciplines and/or Project Engineers within the Engineering Centre. This involves planning the development of the Discipline Engineering and Project Engineering so that they support the company’s commercial and project execution strategy. Responsibilities included business development, budget control, project & resource management, engineering operations, performance management, training and all other related business activities including creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

Management of the technical and engineering services focused on delivering innovative and compliant engineering solutions for all UK tenders received through the Business Acquisition team. In addition to supporting tendering activities I established the Field Development Studies team, offering full subsea field development capability to our clients.
