Sales Executive / Product Trainer

At Event Software I was an Inside Sales Executive & Product Trainer. We sold software to the Event Management Industry, which included conference centers, performing arts centers, museums, arenas & more.My job included cold calling, answering inbound calls, demonstrating & selling the software on the phone, building relationships, attending trade shows, software presentations, training new customers over the phone, in our office or onsite at their location. I also helped with technical support & Quality Assurance/ Bug testing. One of the greatest experiences of my life happened with Event Software. I was sent out to Cleveland, to The Rock -n- Roll Hall of Fame & Museum to train their Event Management team on our software. At the time I was smoker, so on my break I went out to smoke. While I was outside I noticed a large group of people gathered together talking then one older gentleman in a wheel chair all alone. Not knowing anyone I went up to the gentleman in the wheel chair and started talking. Next thing I know we were telling jokes. Some of them were very bad jokes & I lost track of time. The IT Manager actually came out to check on me & bring back in.When he noticed who I was talking to he said "Oh, sorry to bother you. Take your time Ian, come in when you're done" That's when reality hit me & I asked the gentleman who he was. It turned out he was the President of the museum. I immediately apologized for my jokes. He told me no apology was needed. He went on to tell me this was the first break he had that anyone talked to him & that he appreciated making him laugh and smile. I went back to work and finished training the group. Little did I know the president gave permission to give me a tour of their private vault. I got to see Jim Morrison's jacket, some Elton John Outfits, Jimi Hendrix's guitar and more. I was the told that I was the very first person, who was not an employee of the museum, ever allowed into the vault. It was an extremely huge honor.
