Created the Abertay Sport 25x25 Strategic Plan encompassing academic and performance sport provision with the aim to increase participation in sport by 15% by 2025Developed the service to ensure that financial targets were achieved alongside participation targets resulting in a leaner more financially stable service Led the development of on campus sports facilities (sport, physical activity, teaching & research) through the creation of an outline business case for the development of a £8m on campus sports facility to house academic and performance/recreational sport Embedded the provision of sport & physical activity into the policies and culture of the wider university community through working with colleagues across the University, to place physical activity into the working culture of the University. Resulting in wellbeing initiatives with colleagues from People Services, Estates & Campus Services and across Teaching & Learning contributing to an increased reporting of wellbeing in staff engagement surveysSuccessfully led and supported Abertay Sport staff to ensure that the service provided excellent customer service. 98% of students thought taking part in sport was a good way of feeling part of Abertay and 87% thought the Abertay Sport provided excellent customer serviceKey Projects:The creation of an action plan to support our application to become a signatory of the SAMH Charter for Physical Activity and Sport in Scotland resulting in campus wide focus on positive mental healthImpact report on participation in Abertay Sport and academic retention and progression. Highlighting that students involved in Abertay Sport were 10% more likely to pass their studiesWalk,Talk & Learn: Pilot study into the viability of walking tutorials and supervision meetings. The study found a number of required prerequisites for this practice to succeed but also found that combining physical activity with learning could increase learner engagement by as much as 15%

A programme of upskilling, support and motivation was subsequently created which supported over 200 sport students to articulate from college to Abertay to study sport

The creation of the East Region Football Development Plan to support the wider Scotland United 2020 Strategic Plan for grassroots football in ScotlandDevelopment & implementation of football development opportunities and projects within the Non-Professional Game to obtain “Strong, Quality Growth” in participation rates. The result of which was a 100% increase in the number of registered footballers in Tayside & Fife Strategic Management of Scottish FA East Region staff & Local Authority based Football Development Officers through robust managerial reports and performance analysisLiaised with corporate supporters of football to generate income, finance for development programmes and support for grassroots clubs ensuring the sound financial management of resourcesAcademic lead on IFAB 5 Subs Research, Physical Literacy Programme & Positive Coaching Scotland “Honour the Game” Programme. Key Projects:Positive Coaching Scotland “Honour the Game” project: Responsible for the roll out of the pilot PCS programme for football. The project aimed to create a set of values and behaviours for coaches and parents to ensure that Double Goal Coaching/Parenting was paramount within grassroots football. Over 1500 workshops were delivered alongside seeing fewer incidents of unsavory behaviour and a huge increase in participation in football as players, coaches and refereesResearch lead for the Scottish FA Physical Literacy Programme. Across all 6 Scottish FA regions daily physical literacy lessons were taught to primary aged children for a year. The research found that taking art in daily physical literacy sessions during the school day was feasible and had a positive effect on academic attainment and the health & wellbeing of pupils
