About Ian Atkinson

The service I set out to give you is the same as I have given to the companies, owners and colleagues I have worked with over the last 30+ years as their Finance Director. The expectation of me was that I would do the job to the best of my ability including giving candid advice and opinions always with the best interest of the business at its heart. Sometimes decisions had to be taken with urgency and often with only partial information being available. While I would like to think my colleagues and I did a good job, occasionally we did make mistakes and I made my fair share of them. This happens, you learn from it and move on.I am a Chartered Accountant. This gives re-assurance to you of the standards to which I operate. Accordingly, I must abide by the Institute guidelines and have professional indemnity insurance. The costs and bureaucracy mean it is not commercially viable for me to offer the fully range of services an internal finance director can while maintaining all the protocols an external advisor must. Consequently, if you are to gain the full benefit of my experience you must always view my input as that of an in-house finance director.
