CurrentCreated and led a Tiger Team that found and solved a day zero bug that had eluded five previous teams. The bug had cost the company 8% of its annual revenue in support costs alone. The investigation spanned hardware and electrical level analysis, custom drivers, and web page level.Designed, architected, and lead development on a distributed automation system that utilized existing hardware in the lab. The system allows for the execution of 5,000+ test cases per night without impacting manual testing. It is written in Java with a web based dashboard in JavaScript and JQuery. Test cases use a domain specific language concept written in XML documents then interpreted into existing Java code. Results are recorded into existing Test Management software.Leveraged design principles and multiple tools to reduce total lines of managed code for Automation from 447,218 down to 229,333, without losing existing functionality while also adding Linux compatibility into the 15 year old product.Created and managed a team that develops automated testing. Over the past five years, the team of 4 has had the highest rate out of a 30 person department of finding critical level bugs which have been solved via code changes.Participated in a small, cross functional team that was assembled to save our largest customer. In six months, we were able to win back the customer by improving product quality and demonstrating increased uptime.Reversed engineered our largest customer’s custom Tape Backup application using only log files collected from incidents. This was used to create a simulation of the customer’s environment in order to find defects that would have resulted in down time.Investigated and found root cause on a defect that brought down our largest customer during an upgrade. The defect originated in the power supply’s firmware that only surfaced during upgrades with a specific feature enabled. Four other engineers had unsuccessfully investigated the defect.
