I am recently retired as the National Director of Camp and Youth Relations for Markel Insurance Company (21 years), a 45-year member of the American Camp Association (ACA) and past Vice President for the ACA – Virginias Section (4 terms), Local Council of Leaders, ACA Standards Lead Visitor (approx. 40 years) , Director Emeritus of the Western Association of Independent Camps and a member of the ACA Pioneers of Camping Society. I have been a member of the ACA National Healthy Camps Committee for the past 14 years and this ACA National conference, 2020, marks my 15th consecutive year as a member of the ACA National Conference Planning Committee. I spent 10 years as a secondary educator and varsity coach for the Los Angeles and Simi Valley Unified School Districts before moving into the camp and recreation industry full time. My experience in education, as well my experience as a Los Angeles City Youth Recreation Director, JCC Recreation Director, YMCA Resident Camp Aquatics Director, California Day Camp Director, and Camp Development Consultant has given me over 50 years of leadership, team-building, and staff development skills that I use to empower others.
