Auk Alpha

Combined PTL/MTL role. Managing the Platform Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of work. Working with all platform supervision to meet budgetary and production targets while maintaining highest environmental and safety standards. Carry out auditing and coaching to continually improve standards. Perform emergency response duties as deputy OIM.

Auk Platform

The Auk Platform located approximately 155 miles South East of Aberdeen is a fixed platform on which there are facilities for drilling, production, accommodation and associated utilities. The platform was installed in 1974 with first production in 1975. The process system includes separation, fuel gas and oil export facilities, artificial lift is via jet pumps The Auk platform process facilities separate the produced fluids from the Auk field with the oil being exported via the Fulmar A platform to Teeside. The associated gas is used as fuel on the platform through a single train two stage compression fuel gas system.As production supervisor I am responsible for managing the activities of the Production team ensuring the process is operated in an effective, efficient and safe manner maintaining process reliability and production efficiency standards. Act as Area Authority responsible for the safe control of work activities on platform. Maintain procedural control ensuring procedures are followed are relevant and discrepancies are rectified in accordance with company Management of Change procedure. Ensuring that supervised personnel are provided with the appropriate training and platform competency standards are met.

Tartan Alpha Platforn

The Tartan Alpha drilling production platform is located 117 miles North East of Aberdeen. The Tartan was installed in 1979 with first production 1981. The process system includes separation, gas sweetening and dehydration, gas compression and oil and gas export facilities. Water injection and gas lift are utilised to aid production from low yield fields.As Lead Operator I was responsible for leading the operations team ensuring that the daily goals and objectives were met in line with Talisman procedures. Responsible for the safe efficient operation of the platform process from the control room. Ensuring permitry was in place for upcoming work scopes including mechanical isolations, method statements and work control certificates.

Tartan Alpha Platform

Tartan Alpha processes hydrocarbons from 6 fields via a mixture of platform drilled wells and subsea/satellite developments. Largely mature fields, the platform utilises secondary recovery techniques in the forms of gas lift, water injection and electrical submersible pumps. There are two main separation trains, plus one for sour wells which incorporates hydrogen sulphide removal. Gas processing systems are based primarily around a 5-stage compression train. The process includes gas dehydration, gas sweetening, refrigeration, NGL recovery and NGL sweetening. As a Production Operator I completed training and operated each of the plants Oil, Gas and Utilities. My duties as Production operator included operating process equipment and utility systems in accordance with operating procedures to maximise production, carrying out first line maintenance as required, preparing and Isolating equipment for maintenance activities, participating in Root Cause Analysis activities to improve process reliability and Identifying and proposing ideas and solutions that will increase efficiency in production, cost and time. I was also an ERT member and Safety Representative for the shift. I was then promoted to the Control room where I was responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the platform process from the central control room, utilising Honeywell DCS and ICS Triplex ESD systems. I also monitored and administered the platform fire and gas systems, including H2S detection.

Rolls Royce Vulcan

The Vulcan Naval Reactor is a Ministry of Defence establishment housing the prototype plants of the type operated by the Royal Navy in its nuclear submarine fleet. For over 50 years Vulcan has been the cornerstone of the Royal Navy's nuclear propulsion programme, testing and proving the operation of five generations of reactor core. The reactors at Vulcan have significantly led the operational submarine plants in terms of operating hours, proving systems, procedures and safety. I joined the company as a Propulsion technician and was promoted through four positions qualifying for each one through detailed boards, oral and practical examinations reaching the position of shift engineer controlling the nuclear reactor and its associated systems from the control room, as well as providing support in all aspects of plant work control. During my time at Rolls Royce I also provided support to other sites in particular in the commissioning of the new class of submarine at Barrow in Furness.

Pentland Firth

I sailed as 2nd Engineer on two Ro-Ro ferries, responsible for safe operation of engine room from start up to shutdown. I maintained and serviced all engine room machinery and was responsible for work allocation to engine room staff, planning and carrying out maintenance around a busy sailing schedule. I was also a fire team leader and a fast rescue craft crew member

Once qualified I sailed as 4th Engineer on 14000 GRT LPG gas tankers world wide.I held regular watch on main engines and boilers simultaneously as Senior in full charge of entire watch and completed maintenance on all ship mechanical systems.
