Engine Performance and ValvetrainA) Primary expertise is in engine modeling and simulation using 1D-CFD (GT-Power)We use these models to:1) Predict WOT engine performance (HP, Torque, MAF)2) Optimize part load fuel efficiency (camshaft profiles, phasing, EGR, pumping loss reduction etc)3) Turbomatching (size appropriate compressors and turbines to achieve WOT performance)4) Aiding design in engine hardware-Intake and exhaust manifolds (tuning and airflow performance)-Valvetrain, valve sizing, camshaft profiles (optimize for dynamics/kinematics, performance, fuel efficiency, start-up emissions)-Design Secondary Air Injection (SAI), sizing and distribution-Modeling and implementing Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to optimize fuel efficiency-Model induction and exhaust systems-Determine parked cam timing strategies for our engines-Provide input to Hybrid and Vehicle systems-Transient torque response-Part load calibration-Predict NA/boosted CNG/LPG/Ethanol Flex Fuel-Single Cylinder Modeling for combustion developmentB) Knowledge of combustion and airflow development-Work closely with flowbench and dynamometer data-Correlate our models to dyno and help troubleshoot issues-AVL Concerto-Currently supports Naturally Aspirated/Hybrid/Turbocharged analysis of GM's future small gas engine.-Previously worked on GM's HFV6.
