Biodesign is a need-driven innovation process, based on identifying vital unmet healthcare needs through direct observation of the cycle of care. These needs are then filtered based on their potential to provide healthcare value and improve patient care. Inventing solutions for those needs involves iterative brainstorming while taking into account regulatory, reimbursement, business model, and intellectual property factors, in a way that ensures a progressive reduction of risks as innovations move forward toward implementation.

Lead the planning, development, and implementation of a management decision support system around inpatient COVID-19 patients during the pandemic. This included the design of custom data collection tools, analytics, and data visualization to facilitate senior decision making on topics such as unit availability and timely staff hiring, as well as integrating said system with the EHR (TrakCare - Intersystems) for a standardized COVID-19 outpatient management protocol based in REDCap.
