About Igor Nesterov

Building a test framework for the network solutions and protocols... From scratch... Work in progress...This means I am deep into the network protocols and do quite a lot of Python coding using Pytest. And of course, working with network solutions means working within linux environment.Additionally it comes with development of design documentation, test strategies and test specifications.Yet, it is just three months in, so more information to come.Prior to this I had five years of experience in SQA for IoT (Z-Wave technology) within agile/scrum environment. Working with IoT wireless networks - from physical devices through test development to test automation with the test automation tool developed by the team and TestRail as test database. That's where my thorough understanding of networks and mesh networks in particular and wireless network protocols comes from.My coding experience includes c# for test automation, Python and Powershell to automate the integration of test tool with Jenkins and TestRail. Right now it is primarily Python and Pytest. My experience prior to IoT SQA was in scientific computing and development of oil reservoir simulators.I have an Engineer (Msc equivalent) degree in "Computational Systems, Complexes and Networks" combined with PhD in physical chemistry.I have a passion for code development and all the tasks those set a challenge to my skills. My strengths are the following:- I am a swift learner.

Listed skills include Programming, Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Reservoir Simulation, and 45 others.

As a member of SQA team I test Z-Wave firmware. This includes manual and automatic tests performed on local Z-Wave mesh network as well as development of new tests starting with software test plans and concluding with tests scripts written in c#June-July 2019I have developed a set of Python scripts to manage the automated tests and transfer results directly to TestRail database.Gain: Implementation of these scripts lead to increase of the team's productivity up to 30%Experience gained: Python codingApril 2018 - May 2019Project: Z-Wave 700 Series Chip Software DevelopmentExperience gained: integration with software development team under SCRUM, JIRA, testing with tight deadlines, test case development, c# coding, python coding.Input: Complex testing that combined ad-hoc and planned testing and development of test cases within the software development cycle to meet deadlines of SCRUM sprints.Result: I performed manual and automated testing of software working as an integral part of software development team, created tests to meet new functionality and improve quality of SQA procedureGain: Software quality was improved by QA reports and Z-Wave SDK 7 was delievered on time.

OPTION project (Optimizing Oil Production by Novel Technology Integration).Experience gained: development of user-defined code for CFD simulator, CDF simulations, CFD application to flow in porous media.Input: Development of user-defined functions to model the behavior of two-phase gas-oil systems with ANSYS FLUENT.Result: I have developed the user-defined functions for ANSYS FLUENT those made possible to model phase transitions and phase properties for simulation of flow of gas-oil systems within porous media and pipes with black oil PVT data. These functions are used to apply CFD to near-wellbore and wellbore simulations.Gain: DTU and Lloyd’s Register received the code that can be used to provide correct description of phase transitions for ANSYS FLUENT simulations of wells, pipelines and near-wellbore regions of oil reservoir.

Participation in MAPS project to study the adsorption of binary mixtures.Eperience gained: Advanced MATLAB programming, equation of state based calculations, theoretical analysis of adsorption.Input: Multicomponent potential theory of adsorption was applied to binary mixtures to predict their adsorption from pure component adsorption data. Mixtures containing at least one highly polar or associating component were used.Result: I have developed the software based upon the core MATLAB code which can calculate the adsorption of binary mixture from the single component adsorption data. All calculations were verified with experimental data.Gain: Statoil and DTU CERE received a software which can correctly predict adsorption of binary mixtures on wide range of adsorbents even for systems containing polar or associating components.

Postdoctoral Researcher

Participation in BioRec project which studied the approaches to enhance oil recovery using microorganisms.Experience gained: Advanced FORTRAN programming, advanced c# programming, reservoir simulator development.Input: Introduction of filtration mechanism for bacteria deposition. Introduction of spore formation to the model. Modification of the code for full 3D simulations.Result: I have implemented bacteria deposition through filtration which provided realistic description of bacteria injection into tight porous media that cannot be achieved with biofilm models. I have also designed and implemented models for spore formation and reactivation which uncovered new ways to produce more oil through microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR). 3D simulations have shown that bacteria deposition can significantly enhance oil recovery by closing the zones of porous media with higher permeability.Gain: DTU CERE received a fully functional reservoir simulator which can be used to study the MEOR. The idea of bioclogging as one of the main mechanisms of MEOR was proved with 3D reservoir simulations.

Sep 2012 - Dec 2013

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dtu Kgs. Lyngby

Participation in the ADORE (Advanced Oil Recovery Methods) project with computational study of in-situ combustion enhanced oil recovery process.Experience gained: Modeling of multiphase flow in porous media with chemical reactions, using numerical methods to solve systems of differential equations, modification of reservoir simulator code, advanced FORTRAN programming, advanced c# programming for GUI development.Input: Introduction of three-phase (gas-oil-water) flow. Revision of the reaction scheme for in-situ combustion taking into account combustion of heavy oils and bitumen. Simulation results were compared quantitatively to the experiments in sand packed tubes.Result: I have implemented new reaction scheme which made correct simulations possible for heavy oils and bitumen. Simulations have shown the very same combustion patterns as were obtained by experiments. Analysis of combustion simulations performed for the range of oil compositions and water saturations made it possible to conclude how composition of oil affects in-situ combustion process.Gain: DTU CERE received working in-situ combustion simulator which can perform calculations for a wide range of oils including extremely heavy bitumen. Performance of simulator was verified with experimental data. Results from the study of dependence between oil composition and easiness of its in-situ combustion are published.
