The job duties encompass a wide range of responsibilities including learning general office practices and procedures, performing routine clerical work, and understanding and following departmental policies and procedures. The position also involves communicating effectively, establishing and maintaining relationships with others, using software applications, performing simple and advanced mathematical calculations, prioritizing multiple tasks, and providing lead direction and training to staff as required. Additionally, the job involves independently performing routine and complex administrative tasks, maintaining confidential information, interpreting and explaining departmental and County rules, and learning the organization, services, programs, policies, and procedures of the assigned department. Other duties include composing letters and correspondence, compiling and summarizing data, preparing reports and materials, monitoring departmental contracts and budget accounts, processing transactions using an automated enterprise system, preparing and maintaining accurate records and reports, communicating effectively, establishing and maintaining relationships with others, and typing at an acceptable rate of speed. The position may also involve performing difficult and/or complex clerical duties, learning complex enterprise resource planning software, and performing advanced mathematical calculations, depending on the assignment.
