Just about every job I've held has led my career in a different direction than I could have foreseen when I started it. But among these varied positions, my work has always been driven by a desire to be creative, solve problems and learn new things.For more than 20 years, the FileMaker platform has allowed me to regularly do all three of those things, often at the same time. I think FileMaker — which accurately bills itself as a Workplace Innovation Platform — is a fantastic tool because it gives small businesses the power to be productive on a big-business scale, and lets larger businesses be nimble like a small one.Since no platform can afford to exist in a vacuum, I've had the opportunity to integrate many different services and apps with FileMaker, including QuickBooks, MailChimp, Adobe Acrobat (Interactive PDF Forms), WordPress, UPS.com, USPS.com, Authorize.net, Cvent, Avalara AvaTax, SurveyMonkey and ReadyTalk.Other Highlights/Accomplishments:• Created online event registration system in PHP and JavaScript, integrated with FileMaker, processing $1 million worth of registration revenue per year.• Designed mobile-optimized interface for convention attendee check-in via FileMaker Go app on iOS devices.• Built online contest entry system in PHP, integrated with FileMaker, which receives several thousand digital image/PDF uploads per year.• Designed and produced hundreds of publications and promotional items in print and digital formats with Adobe Creative Suite, from postcards to 150-page hardcover books.• Won an award from Popular Photography as well as 15 awards for photojournalism from state press associations in Wisconsin and Michigan.
