Working as a sales assistant for the country’s leading farming supply store, it was imperative that I was up to date on my product knowledge and able to answer any questions customers may have, from what they may need to set up an electric fence for horses, to what bale twine they need for harvest or what kibble to feed their working dogs. I also carried out weekly stock takes and price checks, organising goods in and goods out for delivery, and occasionally drove the truck out for local deliveries.

I have worked the last few seasons as a lambing assistant, working both night and day shifts. Working as a lambing assistant I have covered a number of different shifts on a variety of farms. I have worked on farms with 2500 ewes, as well as smaller-scale ‘hobby’ farms of 300 ewes. My general duties included day-to-day care of pregnant ewes, as well as post-partum ewes and their lambs, and general husbandry care such as tail docking, castrating, and vaccinating against orf virus. I am confident when assisting difficult births, as well as tubing lambs, administering pharmaceuticals and identifying any diseases before they became a problem.

Whilst working at Waitrose and Partners, I took on a wide variety of roles as a customer service assistant, predominantly working on the service counters and on the checkouts, but was happy to work in the café or overnight on stock replenishments as and when needed. It was frequently noted by my managers that my customer service and product knowledge was above and beyond the expected standard of a Waitrose Partner. When working nights, I was part of a small team to restock and often changed sections throughout the store meaning I was able to develop an understanding of most departments.
