The EVP & COO is responsible for the planning, assessment, development, design, operations, and improvement of the systems that enable and deliver the services of the Texas Heart Institute. It is expected that she marshal limited resources to the most productive uses with the aim of creating maximum impact toward fulfilling the mission, vision, and goals of THI. As THI relies heavily on philanthropy, the EVP & COO is responsible for building and sustaining a comprehensive development function to fund research, education and operations, while growing the Institute. The expansion of THI to additional locations in local, national and international settings is critical to the Institute’s success and the EVP & COO is responsible for the implementation of the growth strategy. Once the satellite locations are established, Mrs. Helsinger will serve as the Senior THI Administrator of these locations.Mrs. Helsinger serves as special advisor to the President. In this role, she works directly with the President, attending meetings with board members, potential board members, donors, foundations, Texas Medical Center executives, hospital and university Presidents, elected officials, and international officials and institutions. In the absence of the President, Mrs. Helsinger represents THI with these individuals and groups.

Responsible for development of new suburban hospitals, and served as the Chair of the Board for St. Luke's Sugar Land Hospital from groundbreaking through first year of operations. Corporate services responsibilities included international business, marketing, human resources, legal, risk management, philanthropy, pastoral care, supply chain, governance, board relations, and auxilliary. Also, served as the Senior Executive Officer for Episcopal Health Charities.
