Inclusion, self-regulation, UDL, empowerment and acceptance for all learners. I take a neurodiversity-affirming approach to understanding students, and I take a solution-based approach to helping school teams build their capacity to meet the needs of all of their students. I facilitate placing students in the least restrictive environment possible-an environment where they can be safe, secure, and happy, but also challenged and pushed to grow, excel and be independent. I have experience with behavioral approaches, but I have shifted towards prioritizing a developmental, trauma-informed approach, understanding that behavior is communication and that explosive behaviors are often as much a product of environmental stressors as they are the child's personal will. I excel at differentiation and believe that all learners can and should be exposed to enriching material that promotes critical thinking and reflection, as long as it is scaffolded and paced appropriately.
