Proactiva Open Arms is a non-governmental organisation from Spain whose main mission is to rescue refugees from the sea that arrive in Europe fleeing wars, persecution or poverty. Born from a rescue and first aid at sea company with extensive experience in the Spanish coasts.

Mediterranean

Refugee Rescue is a skilled Search and Rescue (SAR) crew, a humanitarian and non political NGO started in 2015. Refugee Rescue crew and our rescue boat ‘Mo Chara’ (‘My Friend’ in Irish) are currently based in Lesvos Greece, where we have helped thousands of refugees fleeing war and persecution. We remain active to respond to and help these families in desperation that are still crossing the treacherous seas from Turkey. We are there to protect our fellow humans and prevent anymore deaths at sea.

Lesbos Greece.

The lack of a safe passage, forcing people to flee by sea, has led to a huge negative impact on the environment and local community in Lesvos. The island has a population of 90.000 yet an estimated 450.000 arrived on the beaches of Lesvos in 2015. The shoreline has turned bright orange from lifejackets, clothes, rubber and fiber glass boats abandoned at the shores. This debris is damaging the environment on this World Heritage Site causing tension among the locals who rely on tourism for income in difficult financial times in Greece. This also makes the landing of new more boats even more dangerous on this already steep, rocky shores. Volunteers and funding to clean this island are scarce. The use of rope access, boats and rafts can help maximize the efforts to clean up the island with a modest budget and a team of volunteers.Objectives:-Cleaning the waterline and the beaches-Upcycling the collected material -> supporting local economy and empowering women in the camps-Reinvest profits from the Upcycling project into Lighthouse-projects (environmental and humanitarian)

Rock climbing, orienteering, cycling and kayaking sessions.Access Adventureis a project which is being delivered by The Pirate Castle, in partnership with the London Borough of Camden & various voluntary sector organisations. The project’s aim is to enable young people with mild to moderate disabilities aged 14 – 25 to experience inclusive outdoor and adventurous activities & sports.

● Project co-ordination, management and promoter of ecologically sustainable construction methods● Construction of the model house, dissemination of findings and promotion of methods● This project was a collaborative effort between Mexican and international non-profit organisations, with an emphasis on the involvement of local peoples. In particular, it provided an opportunity for the social integration of recovering drug-addicted and alcoholic men from a local rehabilitation program.
