After serving 14 years as a chaplain and mental health clinician in the Canadian Armed Forces, I am starting a new chapter of my life as a psychotherapist/counsellor. My dream would be to specialize in working with victims of Spiritual and Religious Trauma, especially with LGBTQ2+ people who have suffered at the hand of discriminatory faith groups or experienced the trauma of conversion therapy. I have a great deal of experience and training in working with Grief Therapy, Moral Injury, Trauma treatment as well as other treatment modalities for Mental Health issues. I am currently beginning my studies in Sex Therapy as I realize that some of the greatest harm for many people growing up in religious communities is related to their understanding of sexuality.I am excited to begin this new chapter in my life and am hoping that I can use the many scars that I have accumulated over a lifetime of involvement in the church to help heal others who have been similarly wounded by their involvement in religious systems.
