My role as a student instructor involved preparing lesson plans and arranging sessions for undergraduate students in general chemistry. I had to figure out how to answer a student’s question, while also helping the rest of the students in their doubts or lack of understanding in other topics in the chapter. A session (three sessions per week) was to be prepared in a manner that would cover a chapter or two within a 45 minute time frame. The sessions involved activities in groups or participation/mini presentations that would promote their learning capabilities in the general chemistry topic. At times, assisted the professor to proctor his exams.

As a Lab instructor, I taught two undergraduate lab courses per semester in general chemistry. I gave a brief lecture on the topic of the experiment and its concept/calculations. I supervised the students as they were working on their assigned experiment and ensured they were wearing proper PPE as well as conducting their work safely. I had an hour separated every week to allow students to individually visit me and ask questions regarding their laboratory work. I assisted students on their work to help them understand the concept of the experiment they conducted/were to conduct the following week. Grading lab reports and inputing grades every week.

Assisted high school students in the department of science. Previous knowledge in chemistry, physics, and biology were expected. Worked individually with students or in groups to give them a better application or understanding of the lesson they were going over. I supervised the students in the absence of a teacher, or helped proctor exams. Another important role involved grading paperwork and performing clerical work to assist teachers.
