About Ivan Cook

I am an experienced data analyst seeking to apply my skills in survey research, research methodology, data analysis, and report writing. My experience includes gathering, organizing, arraying, analyzing and reporting on demographic and programmatic data. I have used both descriptive and inferential statistics. I have an above-average ability to identify and explain, in plain-English, multivariate trends in the data. I am able to create tables, charts, and graphs (like those available in Microsoft Excel graphics) to summarize data. Applications of these skills can be in public sector settings such as programmatic evaluation and analyses, or in the private sector such as marketing research.Ivan Cook(205) 504-6946ivan.W4FWL@gmail.com

  • Florida Department Of Health, Hiv Prevention Program
Government Operations Consultant Ii (Data Analyst)
Florida Department Of Health, Hiv Prevention Program Dec 2011 - Jul 2014
    Tallahassee, Florida
Using Microsoft Access and Excel, I queried databases and analyzed data to compose a variety of professional reports based on the demographic and risk factor trends associated with those taking an HIV test at a publicly-funded health facility in Florida. I specified and explained the multivariate trends in these data. Using Microsoft Excel, I generated tables, charts and graphs to include in the reports as well as in PowerPoint presentations. Reports included: annual reports (and updates); semi-annual progress reports to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); quarterly reports; ad hoc reports to fulfill data requests from staff in the field as well as academic researchers; and reports based on a biennial client satisfaction survey. I took the initiative to do multivariate analyses to identify very specific target groups who appeared to be at highest risk for testing HIV positive. This analysis assisted staff and management in their efforts to implement a program of “high impact prevention.”
