As the Division Director of the MedTech Materials & Devices Division (MMDD), I lead a team of approximately 80 research scientists and engineers dedicated to advancing the fields of Advanced Biomaterials, Sensors, and Flexible Electronics for MedTech applications. Under my leadership, my two department heads collaborate seamlessly across IMRE departments, ASTAR research institutes, local and international universities, and industry partners. We prioritize a synergistic, multidisciplinary, and collaborative approach to materials research and development, always guided by ASTAR’s overarching mission to create scientific value and drive Singapore’s economic growth.My role encompasses not only driving research excellence but also fostering the long-term career development of every individual in the division, from Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates to Ph.D.-qualified researchers. Having greatly benefited from mentorship throughout my career, I am committed to paying it forward by guiding others and sharing lessons from my journey. I believe mentorship is a cornerstone of professional growth, and my goal is to inspire and empower others to achieve their full potential.In an era of rapid technological advancement, we live in an environment enriched by innovation and significantly reduced socioeconomic hardship.
