As Data Science R&D Project Lead, I was responsible for driving research and developing proof-of-concept software in the domain of mechanical fatigue. The project covered several areas, including fatigue crack length estimation using machine learning, estimation of fatigue model parameters through various statistical methods (nonlinear regression, maximum likelihood, MCMC), and fatigue lifetime and cumulative damage estimation in both time and frequency domains.I led a scrum team in the software development phase, where I acted as the product owner and managed the efforts of data engineers, data analysts, and mechanical engineers. Additionally, I mentored two interns, providing guidance and support in their work.

I completed a doctoral thesis in numerical mechanics, focusing on theoretical formulations for the numerical modeling of smart materials. My work involved developing 3D multi-scale and multi-physics finite element models applicable to mechanics, electromagnetic, and fluid dynamics. During a year and a half of freelancing, I developed and implemented several successful software projects, ranging from traffic control systems to security solutions. One of my key projects was a traffic control system for fast roads and highways, which included modules for vehicle speed control, automatic number-plate recognition, traffic violation detection, ticketing, and back-office data transfer and misdemeanour management.I also developed a security biometric system used during the 2015 refugee crisis in Croatia. This system facilitated fingerprint identification, person registration, and verification via a specialized mobile device, with integrated back-office management and reporting tools.Additionally, I created native iOS and Android mobile applications for a Yoga pranayama breathing app in collaboration with a certified yoga teacher. For a marine engineering consultancy, I designed a custom project time management software solution tailored to the company's needs.

In the IT department of the City of Rijeka, I worked on business analysis and the development of software solutions aimed at the digitalization of city administration departments and other public institutions, such as accounting, health and social welfare, education, and public utilities. A key focus was the implementation of public e-services. I was involved in all phases of the application development cycle, from planning and requirements analysis to design, implementation, performance and reliability testing, as well as migration and ongoing maintenance.

In my role, I mentored and prepared high school students for national and international programming competitions, teaching an intensive course focused on algorithms, data structures, and algorithmic problem solving. The course covered key topics such as sorting algorithms, graph theory, dynamic programming, greedy algorithms, binary search trees, and hash tables, with an emphasis on design patterns, advanced algorithms, and time and space complexity analysis. My goal was to help students build a solid foundation in mathematical and logical problem-solving, preparing them for competitive programming challenges.
