Since 2005 my passion has been the Affordable Housing Industry. I have lived in it; I have managed it and I am a product of it. If I could tell my story, it would be like no other story, similar stories like mine do exist but this story is deeply rooted in my spirit. It has been used by me and others as inspiration for residents, co-workers and employees alike. My affordable housing career began as a Property Manager of a very small LIHTC community in Hammond, LA. It was at that time my deep desire to improve lives, educate families and see positive impactful change in communities was birthed. My work ethic, determination and passion to carry visionary goals and missions has taken me from a Public Housing resident in small town Hammond, LA to Vice President of Affordable Housing for the East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority (EBRPHA). I have a sincere passion for the resident. Providing a place to call home, to raise a family, and to do better for oneself; that is what I am all about. I am a stickler (Drill Sergeant) for a well-maintained property, and I embrace the ensuing pride it flourishes in the residents.It has been said that if you take care of the little things, the big things will take care of themselves. I believe this wholeheartedly. Taking care of my residents builds strong communities. Taking care of my employees builds a strong company. It is the simple day to day activities I engage in with my residents and employees alike that encourages each to strive for success. Being able to cultivate peace, build healthy relationships and nurturing family balance is the key to revitalizing communities and seeing the paradigm shift within a neighborhood. A home for those in need, a rewarding career for the inspired employee and profitability for our organization becomes the result.Although my experience is vast and my job duties are demanding, I stay connected to my residents by being on the front lines. After all, it was there that I have my humble beginnings. Staying connected, available and involved allows me the opportunity to continue to make a difference in the lives of those at the site level.
