An independent writer and producer – with a longstanding involvement in music and theatre-making – Izzy's connection to the performing arts runs deep. After completing her studies at the University of Edinburgh, Izzy has since spent her professional life working across some of Scotland’s largest performing arts venues and festivals including the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Imaginate and EIF. These experiences have given her a broad understanding of the country’s artistic landscape, and her involvement has ranged from event co-ordination, sales, fundraising and latterly, producing. Izzy has worked for Capital Theatres since 2014, beginning in box office, undertaking significant bodies of research for the learning and development teams, and recently moving into the role of Creative Engagement Co-ordinator. Izzy has a particular passion for combining her own interest as an artist with community outreach work, and she is delighted to be working in a position which can help connect communities to the arts and improve audience experiences for a fantastic organisation. A summer spent teaching English in Thailand – the success of which was largely shaped by the ability to use drama and song to overcome language barriers. Founding Blethers from Afar, a successful travel and lifestyle blog which focuses on finding wellbeing through adventure. Progressing to the role of venues editor for leading cultural magazine The Skinny. Becoming a Dementia Friend with Alzheimer Scotland. Assisting Capital Theatres’ development team in their successful goal of raising £25m for an essential redevelopment of the King’s TheatreUndertaking a significant benchmarking research project for the Creative Engagement team, in order to aid the department with future planning and development. Being commissioned to write and direct various creative pieces to assist in fundraising efforts, including a short film (The Interval) and a voiceover script, soon to be performed by Brian Cox Being part of Capital Theatres’ creative strategy working group, looking at ways the organisation can create an inclusive, relevant and high-quality engagement and artistic offering.
