I respond to calls for service I am dispatched to and also engage in several different proactive and community based police practices in order to best serve the community. Responsible for leading, managing, and developing approximately one hundred and twenty service men and women assigned to my unit which can be deployed at any time for various reasons, all of which with the responsibility of serving the country and the State of Nevada. I am responsible for personnel matters within the unit and facilitate internal investigations, documentation, recommendation and eventual execution of disciplinary action.I am responsible for a wide variety of logistical components inclusive of a variety of categories such as: Human Resources, scheduling and payroll, classroom and field training, overseeing exercises, as well as maintaining compliance with several different government regulations and unit specific practices and policy.

As the single law enforcement agency within the county, my partners and I were tasked with providing the highest level of service to the residents of Douglas County, Nevada in addition to protecting and serving the hundreds of thousand visitors the area received yearly. I was assigned to the Detention / Jail division for a short time, and was then reassigned to the Patrol Divison where I responded to emergent and non-emergent citizen generated complaints and/or reports ranging from fraudulent activity to violent in-progress crimes. During times which I was not handling calls originated from citizens, I took a very proactive approach to policing which meant I routinely self initiated contacts, investigations often leading the arrest of individuals engaging in criminal activity and or that were wanted (warrant arrests). I worked very hard to maintain trust and transparency with community stakeholders in a time of uncertainty due to very prominent situations on a national scale which reflected poorly on police as a whole. My drive and hard work quickly earned me new learning opportunities which contributed in my professional development as well as made me a better police officer. I was afforded the opportunity to attend advanced coroner training and became certified as a Death Investigator. I was then assigned to the advanced team which was tasked with investigating unattended and/or suspicious deaths in Douglas County. Assignment to this unit was a collateral duty while still being assigned to patrol as well as on-call status responsibilities.As one of the very few bilingual, I regularly assisted with interpreting and translating for individuals with limited English proficiency.In 2022, I was honored and awarded the Life Saving Medal for my response and actions during a call for service I responded to in which a man was in cardiac arrest which contributed to saving his life.
