I designed and executed a testing plan for turbulence generators in an Optical Far-Field Diagnostic System to simulate atmospheric turbulence. I used metrics such as scintillation index to characterize the effects of the turbulence on an optical signal.

I continued working as an assistant tennis coach. I helped coach the junior tennis team and helped lead clinics for both juniors and adults. I coached the players one-on-one and also facilitated drills. I also introduced the team in matches against other teams and made sure the matches ran smoothly.

I was introduced to the different functions of the NRC and learned about the nuclear power industry. In addition, I studied human factors engineering in the Human Factors Engineering Branch under Dr. Jing Xing. I learned about human factors analyses in nuclear power plants and researched the “Applicability of Human Factors Engineering Analyses in Retail Stores”. My internally peer-reviewed research paper on this topic was published by the NRC on the ADAMS database.
