Mr. Farris has over 20 years of experience in positions related to economics, real estate, and government debt financing. Prior to joining Wakeland HDC as a Project Manager, his work experience includes heading up the Asset Management and Marketing Division for the City of San Diego's Real Estate Assets Department. The division’s responsibilities included management and administration of over 700 leases and other property-use agreements for land, facilities and other assets. Mr. Farris was also manager of the San Diego Housing Commission's Housing Finance and Development Department where he had served as both a developer and lender, successfully closing in excess of $320 million in bonds resulting in the creation or preservation of 2,500 affordable units. Mr. Farris' career began as an economist for the City of San Diego. As the City's chief economist, he was responsible for creating financial models for the City's debt financing of capital improvements as well as land-based financings such as assessment districts and the City's first Mello-Roos District used to fund infrastructure for developments. He holds a master's degree in economics from San Diego State University. Show less
