Among the day to day role of putting together tailored marketing strategies for our various departments and courses, I am responsible for the organisation, development, recruitment, promotion, training and growth of our University Student Ambassadors volunteer programme. For the last two years I have been solely responsible for re-branding the scheme, retraining all the ambassadors, developing a new training programme, recruiting new ambassadors and marketing the scheme through the use of PPC add campaigns on social media channels to encourage more students to join and volunteer.I also coordinate the University of Chester blog pages. Managing the schedule of content to be posted, tailoring the various calls to action and promoting the blog posts via various social media channels. I monitor the interactions each blog post has and report back to the wider marketing team on their effectiveness to ensure all our content is hitting the mark with our target audience. I see myself as a creative individual who is always trying out new ideas. I have recently undertaken my CAA approved PfCO licence to allow me to use my Drone for commercial video work that can be used in marketing materials for my current employer. I am familiar with delivering PPC advertising campaigns and have a strong understanding of SEO and the use of key words in content. Something the department had never done before. The regular HTML email was used to promote all the service and events the department had running that month and incorporated various calls to action for subscribers to pick from. I would also updated case studies and write news articles in relation to departmental developments for the corporate website to be sure our pages were always up to date and relevant and managed the department’s social media accounts. Interacting with the department’s service uses, by posting links to our latest news; publishing our marketing videos and regularly updating the social media pages with relevant content. Show less

I was also responsible for working alongside the Elects Sabbatical offices to aid them in achieving their manifesto targets for the year. In 2014, I was the lead on arranging and marketing a week long series of events and activities for ‘Disability Awareness Week’ for one of the sabbatical officers. The role involved organising and representing the combined voice of 17,500 students across the University of Chester; organising petitions and lobbying the University for what the students require and also organising national and local campaigns to raise awareness of issues effecting students. During my time as VP Welfare and Academic I arranged several large scale campaigns to raise the profile of Chester Students’ Union and to repair the relationship between the local residents and the University. In November 2009, one of my campaigns, ‘The Community Clean Up’, was recognised by the National Union of Students (NUS), winning the ‘NUS - Community relations award’. The Following year, Chester Students’ Union was voted the ‘Best SU in the North West’ in the Times Higher Education league tables, a title it held for a further 3 years after I left. The Job taught me about patience, compromise and problem solving. I had to work closely with others, such as the university senior management team, and external companies to make sure changes happened and I had to relay information back to our students through the creation of blog posts and news article all shared via various social media platforms. I worked for a Summer Music Festival called Beach Break Live between 2007 and 2010, marketing the event to students in Chester. Beach Break Live were so impressed by my sales figures in 2007 that they contacted me to request I took over the whole of the Chester region in 2008. In 2008 I also worked as part of a street promotional team for Nokia connectors.

I was part of a team that was the first port of call for any after sales issues our customers had. It was my job to answer the phones and make the bookings for the customer, then meet and greet the customer in a professional manner. The job required me to be organised as, between dealing with the customers, I was in charge of chasing up any overdue invoices, taking payment and general office filing. I had to be a good listener so that I knew what was happening in the department and to communicate that to other members of staff and customers. I also had to work closely with the other departments within the office to follow up any warranty work, sales hand-overs or parts that were on order and keep the customers informed of their status. As I was also at the front of house I had to be well presented at all times and took pride in my appearance. I was also sent on a customer care training course at an Oxford branch of Mercedes-Benz, where we were taught a number of strategies to make sure the customer always felt looked after and cared for and how to be organised and work well together with your team.
