I am interested in a career in software development as I enjoy the prospect of constantly having new problems to solve, keeping me active and always learning. As such i have used my time at Manchester to hone my coding skills through completing all coding based modules offered to me and I have gained lots of experience in problem solving through completing a wide range of different lab experiments which have all had their own unique issues. With this background, I was awarded a summer internship at Western university in Ontario through the MITACs scheme. Here I gained specialized knowledge about Diffuse Interstellar Bands and aided the search for the particles that create these bands through building fitting programs made to obtain key information from spectral absorption lines with minimal initial parameters. Working with an international team was a new experience for me, and I particularly enjoyed the different cultural perspectives.
