Carrying out all bike servicing and more at Dr. Bike events In Canterbury and surrounding areas in Kent. Most work based at the University of Kent running the University Cycle Hire scheme where abandoned and donated bikes are recycled and hired to the staff and students. As part of the hire scheme, I also offer a call out service for nearby cyclists, using a 'Cargo Bike' with all tools needed to carry out repairs at a convenient location sparing people the ordeal of dragging their bike to a shop.

Before applying to the Scientist Training Program for Medical Physics, I decided to spend a fortnight shadowing in the Medical Physics department at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge. This placement allowed me to have a first-hand experience of roles that would be covered in the STP and career path(s) that could be followed upon completion of the course. The majority of the placement was spent in the Radiotherapy department, where I learnt about the therapeutic methods used with linear accelerators for external beam therapy. I also spent time within the various subspecialisms of Nuclear Medicine, MRI and Radiation Safety and an additional day in the specialism of Clinical Engineering.

Throughout time in position I developed a high level of Customer Service, as expected, which was tested and proven through various methods such as the partnerships'​ own 'Horizons'​ training program, personal development plans and blind testing of 'Mystery Shoppers'. As part of delivering outstanding customer service it was necessary to have an extensive and in depth product knowledge, with a thorough understanding of till and delivery systems.

Research roles during this internship were carried out with the Particle physics group at the University of Manchester. My research mainly included investigating crystal development particle detection components and developing detection methods of concealed sources. My main role, investigating crystal growth, involved cataloguing spent wires from the recently decommissioned NEMO3 neutrino detector for further investigation upon recognition of crystal growth patterns due to the ion interactions which make tracing neutrino flight possible. The latter part of the placement required me to research, develop and construction a simple prototype scintillation detector for penetrative radiation which would be reflected by the lining which conceals radioactive sources.
