As a quick learner, I could move on to the counter and take on new responsibilities. As part of the counter sales team, I was able to learn more about products that are considered 'light goods' which broadened my knowledge of building materials from my previous role in the yard working with 'heavy goods'. Serving customers took up the majority of the day – a responsibility of mine was to pick all collection & delivery orders from our contacts team.

As yard operative it was my responsibility to check customers collection notes to ensure correct products and quantities are safely loaded into their vehicles as well as picking orders in readiness for deliveries and collections.
