From what started as just an idea in my back bedroom soon turned into me volunteering for 3 years from 2014 to 2017, working other jobs to pay the bills whilst growing and developing the organisation from the ground up. With the support of some fantastic trustees I led the charity from strength to strength. In January 2018, I became the full-time Chief Executive Officer. During my time as the CEO I learned everything about running a non-profit organisation including good financial management and governance, bid writing and funding applications, campaigning & marketing, large fundraising events, fundraising campaigns, working with the media, speaking at conferences globally, companies and well-being fairs, developing and delivering a service that has a positive impact on the lives of others.Running a small charity with a small team wasn't easy, I often used my problem-solving skills to ensure the charity continued to deliver much needed awareness and support. The best skills I had the privilege to grow and use were my networking and relationship management skills along with a good understanding of how vital a strategy is and the ability to write appealing funding bids.During this time I developed a passion for digital and how it can be used for good, this lead me to working with Reason Digital on a number of projects and eventually applying for a job with them. It was my job to ensure the customer was in a place of safety as a priority, log the breakdown taking all relevant details such as location, vehicle details and description of the fault.
