My doctoral studies employed narrative methods and narrative analysis to explore how early parental loss impacts on adult life.

I was employed as a post-doctoral researcher working on the ‘Innovative Approaches for Complex Symptoms’ research theme within the new National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI)-funded Cancer Experiences Supportive and Palliative Care Research Collaborative (CECo). Part of my role was to write papers for publication and assist in developing funding applications.

During this period I was involved in various research projects which investigated such issues as domestic violence, nurse recruitment, the training needs of Sure Start Managers and the use of invasive procedures on children I also evaluated a number of projects including the MAD curriculum (nurse education program), stroke education, Shaping the Future: primary care education and training project, Non Medical Prescribing e-Learning Project and various Sure Start Initiatives.
