Strong Families Initiative is a Montgomery County program that works closely with select parishes, schools and community-based organizations to provide Latino youth and their families an outlet to discuss the hardships they are facing and to be better equipped to face future difficulties.

Linkages to Learning (LTL) is a comprehensive school-based prevention and early intervention program. Serving as a liaison to the South Lake Elementary community, I collaborated with Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Sheppard Pratt, and local organizations to assist low-income families and students by connecting them to services and resources that help them in school, at home and in the community. As an AmeriCorps VISTA I collaborated with stakeholders across the Washington, DC region toprovide underserved communities the education and resources to thrive. My VISTA experience has enabled me to be a community leader who understands the cultural diversity and strong community partnerships that make Montgomery County thrive. At the same time I am acutely aware of the challenges that poverty presents. This outreach involved carefully listening to stakeholder needs, and delivering solutions working together with AmeriCorps volunteers, faith based organizations, nonprofits, government, and the private sector.Through my VISTA program support and liaison duties I served on the Steering Committee andManagement Team of a 21st Century Community Summer Learning Program. Over the courseof five months I liaised with the Montgomery County Recreation Department, MontgomeryCounty Schools, three nonprofits, and the local community to plan, budget, execute, monitor,and evaluate a new summer academic program serving 150 low-income students. The programtackled summer learning loss, addressed food insecurity, and promoted a healthy and nurturingenvironment.Additionally, I wrote successful grants totaling more than $100,000, and raised $10,000 inindividual and in-kind donations. These vital contributions helped Adventist CommunityServices of Greater Washington sustain their vital social service programs serving over 7,000local residents.

Working with A-Team Solutions LLC, I consulted, managed projects and served as an analyst on supporting the Department of Defense, the Army Reserve, the National Guard Bureau, US Customs and Border Protection, and the Department of Education.I supported the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) by leading an Employment Initiatives Study of the five-year ESGR Strategic Plan and OPLAN to strengthen the overall ESGR mission of providing employment opportunities to our guardsmen and reservists. This involved identifying and interviewing key stake holders groups within the National Guard and Reserves, the Department of Labor Veterans Program, the Department of Veterans Affairs Transition Centers and the many ESGR private sector business and human resources partner groups that are vital to delivering the ESGR mission. Our formal study guided ESGR to strengthen its ongoing activities from a loose employment initiative to a formal employment program by providing a road map to align DOD priorities and strategically move forward in a new employment arena. Our study indirectly lead to a formal DoD Reserve Affairs Employment Initiative (H2H) that I helped create and staff.On another contract I supported the Department of Defense Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program by providing program management support to over 30 Yellow Ribbon Program Specialists (YRPS) and Yellow Ribbon Reserve Component Liaisons (RCLs) across 54 States/Territories/District of Columbia.

In my role as Senior Manager I coordinated National Guard and Reserve policy and outreach, veterans’ issues, Department of Defense outreach, export control policy, homeland security liability and other national security issues. I served as liaison to members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Homeland Security Task Force, comprising 125 companies.and collaborated with coalitions and working groups to advance Chamber positions on national security initiatives.As the liaison to the National Guard and Reserve I collaborated with former Army Reserve Chief, Lt. General Jack Stultz and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve to help create employer partnerships and employment initiatives. These nationwide effort focused on providing unemployed or underemployed Army Reserve personnel with new opportunities while providing local businesses with a pipeline of trained and disciplined employees, and educating the business community about the Guard and Reserve.Additionally, I served as a Chamber point working with the United States Department of Homeland Security, the Small business Administration, and the Ad Council to promote business preparedness and continuity issues.

Defense, veterans, immigration, homeland security, defense appropriations, international affairs and trade portfolio. As the military and veteran affairs legislative assistant to Congressman Michael N. Castle I collaborated with the Delaware Congressional delegation to create legislative initiatives, identify funding, and conduct outreach with constituent groups and national organizations leading to obtain support and funding for key infrastructure, airlift, logistics initiatives at Dover Air Force Base (DAFB), one of Americas key bases in the Global War on Terrorism. This led to creating a strategic mix of the C-5M Super Galaxy and C-17A Globe master III Aircraft that provides 25 percent of the Nation's strategic airlift capability and projects global reach to over 100 countries around the globe. Additionally the delegation secured millions of to rebuild a larger and more efficient DAFB air freight terminal that according to DAFB is now the largest and busiest air freight terminal in the Department of Defense (DoD). In 2003, the Delegation secured vital funding to build the Charles C. Carson Center for Mortuary Affair that replaced the an outdated facility that had been in use since 1955 to identify and process the remains of over 50,000 service members and is DoD's largest joint-service mortuary facility and the only one located in the continental United States. In addition to meeting our vital national defense needs, this contributes ‘about $330 million annually to the local economy.

Serving as a liaison to members of Virginia Senate as well as first point of contact to constituents I functioned as an information clearinghouse for legislative updates, research, educational materials and tour information. In that capacity I coordinated the Senate visitor program at Virginia state capitol for government organizations, international guests, educational groups and the general public.

My experience working with large groups and stakeholders includes coordinating tours, managing exhibits and serving as a goodwill ambassador at the U.S. Pavilion at the 1992 Universal Exposition in Seville Spain. Serving as a Public Affairs Guide I specifically organized visit arrangements for executive personnel of United States pavilion sponsors. Guided thousands of visitors to the pavilion and provided cultural and historical perspectives of the United States.
