Team leader responsible for a large team of staff during various shifts, some of which were extremely busy seeing thousands of students attend events.

Duties involved working the bar at both the student club and pub, making cocktails, promotional work on open days talking to prospective students and parents as well as assisting with the running of events on behalf of the SU.

As VP of Biological Society, I was responsible for managing the other committee members of the society as well as organising events for our members and assisting the president with other responsibilities.

As a committee member of Biological Society I have had a role in planning and running the events for the year including the annual Bio Ball, documentary viewings and organising the 'Bio Family', a scheme whereby 1st years are assigned an older student to help with any questions they may have going forward. In addition to this, as Union Council Rep., it was my responsibility to represent the interests of my constituents, the members of the society, at meetings of the Union Council.

I was awarded a Biochemical Society Summer Studentship to further study and attempt the characterise the nature of the redox reactions undertaken by STC and other small, redox active proteins found in the periplasm of Shewanella oneidensis based in the lab of Julea Butt at UEA. This experience took the form of a research project and culminated with writing a report on my findings.

As of October, I have had the opportunity to engage in work experience in a research lab run by Professor Julea Butt. During this work experience I had a focus of identifying the biochemical function of the small tetraheme cytochrome (STC) protein found in the gram-negative bacteria Shewanella oneidensis which is believed to be involved in the shuttling of electrons through the periplasm.
