I worked on the open-source PostgreSQL Community team in VMware Tanzu Data. The team builds and supports the VMware Postgres product, and it focuses on upstream engagement with the PostgreSQL community -- providing code review, assisting with maintenance, and developing new features. My focus was on the security features in Postgres, and I worked to make them easier to use in combination with end users' existing infrastructure.

I was an engineer for Greenplum Database (GPDB), a parallel analytics engine based on PostgreSQL. I worked to bring the GPDB code base up to date with modern Postgres, maintained the user-facing Python management utilities, and anchored a team of developers responsible for major-version upgrades of Greenplum clusters.

I'm the founder of Superscript Software, LLC. My company provides custom software tooling, code maintenance, and general consulting to clients who are designing their own software in-house. Work is done in short iterations so that clients can make quick changes to their goals as necessary.I run the day-to-day operations of the company in addition to my development work.

National Instruments creates test and measurement systems that are used by scientists and engineers around the world. As a member of their Web Technologies team, I maintained the embedded web server that is shipped as part of the CompactRIO product line and helped engineer new features for LabVIEW Web Services, a software framework that lets customers design and deploy their own web applications.My roles included:- ScrumMaster of the Web Technologies team, 2013-15- Member of the Product Security review team, 2014-15- Web Technologies team lead, 2014-15Some of the things I am most proud of:- Led two major upgrades of our core web server stack, including a change of server vendor- Architected a WebSocket proxying system for use with newer web applications- Helped design and implement a cross-platform autotest suite for our components- Presented security best practices directly to NI customers- Designed and maintained authentication/authorization systems for securing web applications
