My name is Jacob Briscoe Reed and I am an Electrical Engineering student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I am a member of National Society of Black Engineers and have a passion for building hardware, electronics, and learning more about the different applications of this degree. During my free time, I love to play soccer, watch sports, travel worldwide, and spend time with family.From a leadership standpoint, I was captain of my varsity soccer team and was on the District Equity team composed of student leaders who helped make the district a better place for all students. I was awarded the New York State Comptroller Award which recognizes students who have shown academic excellence and potential for leadership through involvement in activities that improve the school or community. These experiences have taught me that a leader has to be a very good listener, should try out different ideas from one's colleagues, and should learn from one's leadership experiences. As I continue to pursue my degree in Electrical Engineering, I am expanding my knowledge every day and love learning something new that allows me to gain familiarity with the real world of Electrical Engineers.
