I worked in the Geospatial Laboratory for Soil Informatics (GLSI) ran by Dr. Bradley Miller. I georeferenced first generation soil maps of Iowa with county and township boundaries using Adobe Photoshop and ArcMap. I worked on gathering parent material and textures from all OSD's in Wisconsin.

This position was administered through Iowa State University, while I worked as a research assistant at the USDA-ARS-National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment (NLAE).- Processed over 150 soil cores and tested for bulk density, percentage by volume and weight of coarse fragments, water content by weight and volume, and inorganic carbon- Gathered soil respiration data with the LI-8100A Automated Soil Gas Flux System. Soil temperature and soil moisture were also measured at the same locations.- Collected field measurement locations by using a Trimble TDS Recon GPS with TerraSync software- Performed wet and dry soil aggregate stability testing- Harvested and processed over 400 plant biomass samples

- Operated image processing software which included: Fiji ImageJ, GNU Image Manipulation Program, and Didger- Analyzed over 450 pinboard and gridboard images for the project SMAPVEX16-IA to determine soil surface roughness or variance
