Jacob has been in education for eleven years and currently serves as Teach For America Detroit’s Senior Managing Director of Educator Program + External Affairs. He leads a few teams spearheading external and legislative affairs, educator development, and large scale programming - all focused on systemic change. He has led many of TFA Detroit’s new strategic initiatives over the past six years that led to a 35 million dollar investment from the state. Jacob attended Florida Gulf Coast University for undergrad, majoring in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations, and double minored in Psychology and Political Science. He graduated with his Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Michigan. Jacob is passionate about anti-racist education, program and strategy design, and critical policy analysis and praxis. He deeply believes in the power of authentic relationship-building to create change. His biggest priorities outside of his work are his relationships with family, friends, and his husband, Jesus. Jacob also enjoys walking his dog (Ru), traveling, roaming around Ferndale and Detroit, and being outdoors. He is a staunch advocate for equity and justice in our society.
