About Jacob Lewis

I am an academic with a background in international development and policy. I specialize in issues of governance, democratization, and conflict in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. My research examines how and why issues of governance and corruption shape mobilization into social movements and militant organizations. I am a multi-methodologist and use quantitative and geospatial statistics, experimental field methods, and qualitative interviews to conduct research. In my previous life, I helped manage and implement post-conflict stabilization and democratization programs across Africa and in Afghanistan. I believe that academics should practice what they preach, and I am interested in continuing to work with development organizations to design and implement programming across Africa and the Middle East.
