In 2013, when I accepted a job offer at Kelly Services, my career trajectory began to diverge from my original goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. I worked as an Apple Technical Support Advisor for Kelly Services. Apple Flex Advisors were responsible for managing calls and switching. The department verified that a customer was eligible for Apple Care or had coverage. After gaining experience supporting Apple products, I moved into iOS and OS support. After leaving Kelly Services and Apple, I joined Sutherland Global contracting for Microsoft in their Xbox support and billing department. I support Xbox consoles, accessories, and account management. I received my second certification during the roll-out of Windows 10. After spending two years with Microsoft, I was offered a position at Unisys contracting for Fannie Mae in their IT Help Desk. This was the first time I was working full-time in the private sector. I discovered that client service in the public sector and an IT help desk in the corporate world are two vastly different things. Right before the purchase of the federated contracts and the transition from Unisys to SAIC, I was offered the opportunity to move Fannie Mae to the Army Enterprise Service Desk as a lateral move with a pay increase since there was no promotion availability in my current position. In 2019, I become CompTIA A+ certified and my future was set in stone, and being a psychologist was no longer foreseeable. I decided to change majors thus changing schools from Capella University to Western Governors University. I am now a junior pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance.
