In this role I supported the Instructional Designers and Cornell University faculty members in creating online courses using the Canvas platform. I created case studies, tools (worksheets and job aids), and glossaries to be used by students in programs ranging from veterinary studies to nutritional counseling. I also was able to shaddow videotaping sessions with the instructional designer and faculty member.

In this role I worked with the Software Development team to complete their writing tasks associated with user manuals, help documents, and tutorials. This position involved writing, graphic design, and some copywriting. The majority of the internship focused on presenting information in a more effective and clear manner, in addition to completing edits as given to me by my manager.

My main responsibilities involved creating and editing documents to help the HR department communicate internally to employees and externally to applicants. My largest project was creating a storyboard for a redesign of the careers page on the company’s external website. This involved researching other technology companies’ careers sites and organizing and updating information in order to better reach potential applicants. It was important for me to display information in a way that would be easily understood (while also being cohesive with company branding). I also created two brochures that will be displayed and distributed at job fairs. One brochure focuses on a single entry-level tech support role that offers the possibility for career path growth. The other brochure was created with the marketing intern, and was a general informational brochure about CBORD. At the end of my internship I was also involved in creating four PowerPoints that will soon be turned into informational videos for new hires about the benefits, history, products, and travel portions of their orientation.

I interned at Stokesay Castle and was involved in helping to manage special events, especially weddings and banquets. I was able to take part in many outreach and marketing opportunities, including giving private and group tours of the castle and attending community events to advertise and answer questions about the venue. In addition, I completed a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet including all of the information from comment cards received over the previous few months.

Within the Artsana Group, I worked for Chicco USA in the ecommerce department. In this position I worked with the head of the department on the newly created business-to-consumer website, chiccoshop.com. Using the Demandware platform, I uploaded images and product descriptions for all of the Fall/Winter 2015 clothing and shoe styles. In addition, I did a little bit of copywriting in taking product descriptions and editing them before allowing pages to go live. I also researched retargeting companies, presented information to my superior, and made initial contact with Criteo, which has become the platform used by Chicco. At the end of my internship I also attended eTail East Ecommerce Conference.
