Wilfrid Laurier's Taste of Asia (WLU TOA) is a student-run organization that strives to connect the students of Wilfrid Laurier University through a shared appreciation of Asian cultures and traditions. WLU TOA aims to create a welcoming and supportive space for students to learn and experience new cultures and cuisines, while having the opportunity to find other students who share the same interests through events both on and off-campus. During the 2023 year-end tax season, I worked alongside a supportive team to assist in tax reorganizations and compliance tax. Some of my highlights from this co-op term include the following:- Presented a portion of the 2024 Regional Tax Update, providing informative guidance on new updates in compliance tax during a region-wide meeting- Took initiative in understanding the concept of a "bare trust" to assist as a designated preparer during T3 Trust Reporting season, in the face of the CRA's new reporting guidelines- Supported my seniors in complex estate and shareholder tax planning while picking up important concepts in taxation
