My position as a summer monitoring technician was a wonderful opportunity for me to develop my field work skills and become more familiar with the environmental field. At the Morro Bay National Estuary Program, I mainly conducted work to measure water oxygen, temperature, pH, turbidity, and flow at local creek sites. Throughout my time, I analyzed bacteria samples, regularly calibrated all field equipment, and applied data management skills in Excel and Access. Additionally, I had the opportunity to collaborate with experts through the city and others to develop a blog post that addressed Pacific Lampreys in the SLO county area. I am very grateful to all the incredible people at the Morro Bay National Estuary Program for teaching me so much and being so welcoming!
