Successful completion of an annual exotic plant monitoring report observing control success of an alien submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV). Role required on-site sub-surface monitoring of vegetation abundance to determine the success and subsequent re-establishment of the exotic SAV species Egeria following drawdowns. Data was then added to the previous year's monitoring analysis and written into a report for GMW. A user manual was also generated to streamline data management processes for next year's monitoring.

The project I completed focused heavily on shallow lake water, nutrient and plant management, and the effectiveness/long term implications of such management on water quality and ecosystem stability. My study was predominantly driven by the application of the predictive ecosystem model PCLake+ as a management tool for examining the condition of and optimising the management strategies of shallow lake ecosystems. Water management, nutrient management (specifically phosphorus and nitrogen), plant and algae growth, and aquatic plant harvesting were examined to determine a target lake's optimal condition. Involved feeding tanks of trout, salmon and barramundi over the course of several diet trials at the Deakin aquaculture shed (marine and freshwater science facility) in Warrnambool. Feeding, tank and tank room cleaning, removal of mortalities and water quality testing were part of the daily routine of work. Safe and slow transfer of new fish between tanks was undertaken every few months after trials were concluded
